A friend of mine is trying to get me to buy his Felt TT bike for $800. I don't have TT bike. I use a madone with aero bars when I race. I would like to have TT bike but is it really worth the $$ for the increased speed? The motor (me) will still suck.

He claimed (n jest I think) that I would improve 5 minuted in a 40 minute TT. I would be thrilled with 1.

Should Io for it?

Thanks

Which model? It sounds like a great buy (depending on the model). And frankly you can never have too many bikes.

Why not.

If your purse will stretch that far it seems like a reasonable
deal if you do enough TT events to justify it.

Your powersource you can improve with training, watching what you
eat and adopting the most aerodynamic posiion on the bike.

But on the subject of power, Davey, pushing 80, sometimes walks up
hills these days, and here in the Algarve, there are plenty of
them with adverse winds frequently adding to the agony and he
bemoans not having gone for the third chainring.

Alternatively, he'd love to acquire one of those new-fangled
in-frame motors. They'd be a decided help on his daily runs. He
hears there might be one or two for sale soon at knock-down prices
;)
