Although it's natural to be even more cynical since Armstrong owned up
to what we all knew - though maybe didn't want to believe - there is a
big difference.
Whereas Lance protested his innocence after being accused, and sued all
and sundry, Sky said from the outset that they were going to be clean.
The departure of several people since, though reinforcing the idea that
nobody previously in cycling can be truly untainted, has also reinforced
their message, arguably at some cost to them in terms of lost expertise
and experience.
Of course, the cheats have always managed to be one step ahead, and it
will take some time before that cynicism starts to shrink, but if he's
not testing positive then surely we should believe him? Remember, Lance
was testing positive early on but it was covered up and I think we can
assume that the processes will be much more stringently applied now.
Sad to say, I don't really believe ityet either :-(
